About Nicky Allen

I'm an illustrator and visual storyteller based in Melbourne, creating bold, surreal artworks that explore the quiet strangeness of everyday life.

My work blends geometric forms, saturated colour, and dreamlike symbolism to reveal the emotional undercurrents that sit just beneath the surface of ordinary moments.

​

Originally from Brighton in the UK,, I studied Fashion design at Northumbria university after completing portfolio development at Central St.Martins. and have lived in Australia since 2000.

​

My practice has evolved across fashion design, digital illustration, and motion based artwork, but the through-line has always been the same: a fascination with how people move through the world - what they notice, what they overlook, and what they carry with them.

AWE illustrations, was established in 2025 specializing in creating captivating illustrations and dynamic animated loops inspired by lived experiences and the surrounding environment.

​

Current themes include GAZE, Still Life, NAna BLUR, CAT with Flowers and Umbrella; my latest artwork is Dreamscapes which incorporate the use of space as much as content.
